What are Modes in MouthX and what are they used for?
Modes are customizable control profiles that allow MouthX to behave differently depending on the task, device, or activity you are performing.
Modes allow you to save different control configurations and switch between them without changing settings manually each time.
Each mode can contain its own combination of:
- joystick actions
- gestures
- sensitivity settings
- shortcuts
- device-specific controls
- application-specific controls
This allows you to adapt MouthX to different situations and workflows. For example, you may use different modes for navigation, productivity, typing, gaming, creative applications, or multi-device control.
How to switch modes
You can switch between modes directly from MouthX.
- Make sure you are not pressing any joystick.
- Keep your mouth closed.
- Apply suction for 1.5 seconds.
- Wait for the haptic confirmation.
- Release suction.
- MouthX will switch to the next available mode.
Mode switching and device switching
Both actions use suction, but with different durations:
- 1.5 seconds: switch mode
- 3 seconds: switch device
Holding the suction longer than intended may trigger device switching instead of mode switching.
Mode templates
The Aurax App includes mode templates that help you get started quickly without creating a configuration from scratch.
Templates are preconfigured profiles designed for common use cases and can be customized later to match your preferences.
Managing modes in the Aurax App
From the Aurax App you can:
- create new modes
- edit existing modes
- rename modes
- duplicate modes
- delete modes
- assign actions to joysticks and gestures
- customize sensitivity and control behaviour
Make sure to save every change.
